Freshman.

The day I moved into college.
My mommy came up with me.
And while I went to a Opening Social for New Student Orientation,
My mom went to Burgers Supreme.
Cried.
And wrote me a list of advice for my Freshman year.
On this napkin.

As I look back on my Freshman year,
I think the events this year can mostly be summed up by this list.
So.
I'll share you the list.
And then some.

#1. Go to class! It is impossible to get good grades if you don't attend class (I know...I tried).
This is true. I went to class at first. I was a good girl. Mags, Liz and I were super anxious the first day....we even matched not on purposely.

We went to class a lot. Especially Fall Semester.
But then,
Winter Semester came around.
It was hard to pay attention in class.
Especially with gummy bears and Emily.

With no Spring Break, we got some Spring Fever.
So visiting the STG and the Vegas were musts.

Therefore, I have learned from my grades this semester to go to class.
I will be doing that more often.
However, a skip every now and then (especially for a road trip) is good for the soul.

#2. Attend devotionals and church meetings. You have the benefit of some great church leaders that speak at BYU. Stay close to the Lord.
Too true.
Devotionals this year were AMAZING.
We heard from like 6 Apostles, including Richard G. Scott and Jeffery R. Holland.
Amazing.
The Marriott Center makes it so much better too.
Plus.
You get to party with amazing people for an hour.
Like them.

You also have to wait forever to get some good seats. ;]

I know this isn't at Devotional...but I went with these people to Devotionals, and I love them dearly.

Sometimes after Sunday Devo's, we'd hit up the rooms. :]

#3. Don't walk alone at night. If you can help it, stay on the lighted path.
I stayed on the path. Lighted of course.
But.
I'm going to change this one to all of the fun things we did...
AT NIGHT! (Aly Keller, I hope you get this Spongebob reference)

#4. Don't date RMs....just don't.
THIS.
IS.
TRUE.
See me for details.

#5. Try not to gain the "Freshman 15." Easy to put on....terribly hard to get off.
Again.
True.
I lost, gained, lost, gained, and finally lost weight this year.
Making my total weight gain 3 pounds.
But I did some fun active things this year with friends.
From intramural Basketball and Soccer teams....

To DDR and Jump on It on the weekends...

And of course rooting for BYU Basketball and walking the strip to see Jimmer will keep off the pounds too. ;]

#6. Never give out personal info to a stranger. Yes, even BYU has some creeps.
TRUE.
But.
I didn't find creepy friends.
I found awesome ones. :]

#7. Trust your instincts and listen to the spirit. Use good judgement.
I don't know if I had good judgement,
But I did follow my instincts.
And I think it shows in....

#8. Be kind to everyone and treat them as a potential friend.
....my friends.
Obviously, I did that at the beginning.
And look at my friends today.
They're amazing.

I also have awesome friends who are going on/on missions:

#9. Study, study, study!!! Take time to play hard, but don't forget to study (you never know what will happen if you keep that scholarship).
Scholarship- lost.
I occasionally studied.

But mostly just played. ;]

#10. Call home often because your mom (and family) is going to miss you more than you'll ever know. I love you! Mom.
Tis true.
They missed me.
And I missed them.

To all the people in pictures in this blog post:
I propose a toast to you.
You made my year amazing.
Here's to your missions boys
And to Sophomore year all you girls.
Thank you for an unforgettable year.

As always:

Goodbye.

I haven't ever been this sad before.
I seriously cannot believe Freshman year is over.
Bam.
Just like that.
The year FLEW by.
Soooooo sadddddd. :[
I had to say so many "goodbyes" and "see you in 2 years"....
It was heartbreaking.
I'll blog about my entire experience later.
Anyways, here are some of the hardest goodbyes.

What will I do without these girls and their faces?

And what about this girl? I live with her! She is my ROOMMATE. who else am I going to rant to?

Oh Mags. 4 Months until we go for 14 and 6. :]

What will i do without Sammy's Mondays and these people?

Will is the BEST person ever.

These three mean more to me than you'll ever know.

This is basically Freshman year. Right here. Minus a few. It wouldn't have been the same without them.

Yeesh.
Goodbyes suck.

"Don't be dismayed at goodbyes, a farewell is necessary before you can meet again: and meeting again, after moments or lifetimes, is certain for those who are friends."
- Richard Bach.

To all of you I met Freshman year, close friends or occasional sightings, whether I failed to mention you or not:
I love you.
Thank you for everything.
Until we meet again.

Cruel.

Sometimes when I'm studying...
My iPod shuffle is cruel.
And puts on songs (in a row, I might add)
Like:
"Say Goodbye"
"You are Goodbye"
"All We Ever Do is Say Goodbye"

Really nice, huh?
I CANNOT DO THIS!
I love my life wayyyy too much up here at BYU.
And to say goodbye to my friends for 4 months...
Some of them TWO FREAKING YEARS....
It's too much.
Combine this stress with that of 3 more finals, packing up the room, and paperwork for the new job and I am one frazzled girl.
Yeesh.
At least the sun is out.
And John is here to serenade me.

Anywho:
Here are some pictures.
I'll have more when the real goodbyes start tonight.
Peace.
